Before I die..

The other day I came across Before I Die I Want To and am absoulutely addicted. I like this project a lot more than Post Secret because it's about peoples' goals for the future, rather than things they feel they have to hide from everyone else.

It got me thinking about things I want to accomplish before I die. There are a lot of them, but the first to come to mind (not necessarily in this order!) were:
- speak at a minimum Spanish and French fluently
- live in a foreign country
- own my own business
- get married and have kids
- bake a lot of cupcakes
- dance with a ballet company again
- learn to drive and buy a car
- neglect car and use a red bike with a white basket to get around
- make everyone laugh
- pick up guitar and share music with others
- be totally comfortable in myself
- have more best friends
- learn to juggle whilst unicycling

Now it's your turn to share! What do you want to do before you die?

weightless

If there were eight days a week, I would definitely spend devote one of them to modern dance. I love it so much, but unfortunately I had to drop it two years ago to make room for ballet and cello and everything else in my life. It would be a dream come true for me to do a project like this one. I know it must look a tad strange if you aren't used to modern, but once you get into it it's so magical and perfect and.. weightless.

I just did the math, there could be eight days a week if we shortened them all to 21 hours. I'd just have to eliminate those few hours between when I wake up ungodly early and do nothing important and when the rest of my house wakes up. Sounds good to me.

I really can't being going back to school already, can I? Ahh.

ahh.

Oh I do love four day weekends. You don't have to wake up on saturday and think "OH MY LAWS I only have two days to do everything I need to do!" because you've already done them before saturday. Which allows more time for relaxing/being unproductive.

And this morning I'm happy to say that I've received another blog award!
Here are the rules:
• Thank whoever gave this to you.
• Copy the award.
• Repost it in your blog.
• Tell us seven things that your readers don’t know.
• Link seven new bloggers.
• Notify the winners of the award with a comment on their blog.

So thanks very much to Felicity to passing this to me! Now seven things..

1. My no. 3 pet peeve is when people make loud, obnoxious sounds when they're yawning. Like hurrrrrraaaaaahmmnomah. Ugh.
2. I love getting mail. Seeing that I've gotten a letter or package is one of the best feelings in the world.
3. I'm really afraid of moths. Mostly just because their wings are all powdery and rip apart when they get wet.
4. I'm also really afraid of growing up.
5. I can never spell the word restaraunt right the first time. See? I mean restaurant.
6. My favorite animal is the owl.
7. I frequently shut off my phone and computer because I feel too connected to technology. One of these days I want to have a sleepover without electricity, but I'm not sure how many of my friends would go along with it.

And I tag...
Faye because her blog is super creative and she is an excellent doodler ,
Erin whose blog makes me laugh everyday
Bella, a very awesome fashion blogger as well as trampoline stunt jumper
April
because her little posts always brighten my day
Olivia because she has amazing personal style and uses the word pizazz in her title successfully
Gabby, who is crafty and witty and has her own ETSY SHOP JEALOUSSS
Kathleen because I like to read her musings on art and pop culture and admire her mahhvelous outfits

Happy saturday my dears. Now I'm going to go finish painting my room with pure periwinkle paint, which is blueish purplish. Hopefully there will be pictures of that soon.

tri-pie

My dears. I hope you all had perfect Thanksgivings if you live in the US or, or decent Thursdays if you live anywhere else. Mine was just kind of mehh, like it always is. The holidays definitely bring out the worst in my parents! They get so stressed over cooking and argue about the stupidest things.. then when I try to play peacemaker I get yelled at too. So. At least my vegetarian table centerpiece looked nice?

I ate my actual dinner with just my parents and sister, and then my aunt, uncle and cousin came for desserts. That made everything better- I'm really thankful for them. And all my family, even though sometimes I do feel like strangling them.

We tried to do a jigsaw puzzle and played so many ridiculous games of Apples to Apples, the greatest card game ever! Also, we had a pie bar. God I love pie!

Off to do some black Friday shopping, waheee!

rainy rainy rain

Hi all. Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I've been trying to get all my projects and stuff together before my break starts on Thursday! Which reminds me. I need to start my government project, oops.

On another note, I've decided I'm addicted to cupcakes. Not to eating them so much, more like decorating and giving them to other people. So I started a new blog about it! Click here to head to Operation Icing.

Okay, this is a shit post.... here, here is some music! Everyone likes music! This one is The Plot by White Rabbits. It feels like energy.

Yay. Happy Tuesday?

crocodile!

Lately my parents have been speaking to each other in Russian a lot, which they only do when they don't want me and my sister to understand what they're saying. I would be worried, except I keep hearing them say "Razhdyestvo", the word for Christmas, which makes me think they're planning presents. Yay!

Even though 95% of what they say goes right over my head, I love just listening to them talk. Russian is such a beautiful language, I wish they'd taught it to me. I've pretty much spent my whole morning watching these videos.

Soooo cute, I can't get over it. Enjoy your Sundays!

buttercream.

Helloooo loves. Sorry for the kind of angry post the other day. I've been feeling much better these past few days because of one thing: cupcakes! On wednesday night my mom gave me a newspaper article about a few cupcake shops that are opening near where I live. It had a few quotes from people that said that they liked the idea of cupcake shops so much because you could just go in, spend a couple dollars on a pretty cupcake, and BAM portable ray of sunshine in your otherwise dreary day. So then I got to daydreaming about what it would be like to own my own shop, and realized that it's really what I want to do- I want to make people happy. I love doing little things to brighten everyones' day, I love smiles. What better way to provide those than through beautiful cupcakes?

I realize that I'm only 15 and there are a million opportunities for me to change what I want to do with my life. But at least I've realized that, even if my fairytale cupcake shop dream doesn't come true, I want to have a job where I'm my own boss and make people happy at the same time. I feel confident in my future even though I don't know exactly what's going to happen.

I pretty much spent all day talking to my friends Sara and Angela about this.. planning flavors, drawing sketches of my shop. Today when I got home from school, I made these cuties:
Basic vanilla mini cupcakes with nutella buttercream (oh hey Debs) and orange peel hearts. My family loved them.

And I have a secret cupcake masterplan in the works that will probably be revealed to you in a few days. AH so excited! Happy weekend!

Pretty please?

who knows if the moon's by e.e. cummings:

who knows if the moon's
a balloon,coming out of a keen city
in the sky- filled with pretty people?
(and if you and i should

get into it,if they
should take me and take you into their balloon,
why then
we'd go up higher with all the pretty people

than houses and steeples and clouds
go sailing
away and away sailing into a keen
city which nobody's ever visited,where

always
it's
Spring) and everyone's
in love and flowers pick themselves

Because today after school my sister was walking home alone and a group of guys twice her size pushed her down and stole her ipod, and people keep talking to me about college, and I rather hate everyone on earth now.

ze trashcan! fromage!

Mondays get such a bad rap I think. I mean I spend whole weekends dreading them, but once I'm back with my friends and snap out of the sleepy sunday mood I feel so energized.

Today my field hockey girls made up a game where if you pass someone from the team in the hall and make this face at her,
she has to sit on the floor (with dozens of people trying to pass around her!) and count to ten out loud. We got yelled at by some teachers, but it was so worth it. I miss them.

Also, I learned that when I get really excited, I shift into using a New Yorker accent. Today I said trashcan like trehhhhshcan while I was still thinking about something funny, and we couldn't stop laughing about it. Syd tried to make fun of me but ended up using a southern accent by mistake, which of course got us trying to speak with every accent we could think of.

I guess the only negative part of my day was chemistry class, or actually the teacher who I've nicknamed lizard egghead yucky sauceman. But instead of listening to him talk about polyatomic ions I made a list of the Christmas presents I'm going to buy my family and friends, with pretty sharpies. I LOVE buying presents. Asking for presesnts for myself makes me nervous but oooh yay shopping for other people.

Now I'm sitting here with some ginger tea, ready to go to ballet. Hope none of you have had the stereotypical Monday.

P.S. My formspring! Go go go!

The View From Saturday

When I was in the sixth grade, I had to read this book for English class and absoulutely hated it. It didn't seem to have much of a plot, and I just couldn't figure out any of the "hidden themes" my teacher kept talking about. But I reread it this morning and loved it! I wish I'd had a teacher like Mrs. Olinski. And I wish I had been able to see that I was almost exactly like each of the characters in the book, in a way, so I could've learned from them.

Views from my saturday:

Ooooh my mother's use of underlining is so intimidating. I'm actually rather worried about the "Final Notice." bit. Adios.

fishy

Yesterday I was trying to clean my room and came across this box of jewelry my grandma gave me about three years ago hidden under some stuffed animals. It was probably put there because when my grandma first gave me the things I was all "Ewww, why would I wear my grandmother's old costume jewelry?" But 12 year olds are silly because I love all of the pieces now.

Today I wore this one:
With this outfit:
Cardigan: American Apparel Shirt: thrifted Jeans: Levis
Yes a very bland outfit I know, I thought that even as I was putting it on, but I was afraid to wear such a bright necklace in the first place so I wanted to balance everything out.. stupid though because I got tons of compliments on the necklace. I need to start wearing what I want to wear without being scared of what people will think. I look at magazines and blogs and get so many cool outfit ideas in my head, but never wear them because I'm afraid of the criticism I could get. But that needs to end. New goal: Trust my instincts when it comes to what I wear, even if it's really bold and crazy and no one else at my school would wear it. Yay!

Okie that's all for now. Oh wait no, today in Spanish class my teacher made us push all the desks out of the way so we could learn to salsa, borchata and meringue. It was unsuccessful and sooo humiliating oh my god. Now that's all!

snargle.

That word is stuck in my head and I don't know why. Please tell me that I'm not the only one this happens to!

Anyway. Everyone should absoulutely listen to Le Loup.

This song is called Neahkahnie, and seems like it should be listened to in the rain. In the summer, on a porch. Sitting in big wooden chairs with your knees hugged to your chest and bare feet.

I very much dislike Sunday afternoons.

I would really love some gingerbread right now.

Now that Halloween is over it's really hit me how close we are to Christmas and how much I'm looking forward to it. Last year I was all pessimistic and cynical about the whole holiday season, like "boooo Christmas, it's just a time for people to stuff themselves and get presents blah blah blah" but now I'm in the holiday spirit yay. I love everything about it- the music, the snow, the baking, the lights up everywhere.. perhaps I should save this until Thanksgiving has actually passed but it's just something I'm thinking about this morning.

And you guyssss, I am so very excited to share that I got my first blog award this morning! Yayyyyy!
These are the rules:
1. Thank the person who nominated me for this award.
2. Copy the award & place it on my blog.
3. Link to the person who nominated me for this award.

Thanks very much to Faye for giving me this award!
Seven things about myself? Hmm.
1. I am quite tall, I think probably 5'9" by now.
2. I'm left handed but a few summers ago I taught myself to write and eat with my right hand. Woo ambidextrous!
3. I wear headbands a lot.
4. Half the time I speak to my mom it's in Spanish, and half the time she speaks to me it's in French.
5. I desperately need to go shopping!
6. Sometimes when I'm bored I plan out the names of my future children.
7. I love the smell of birthday candles. Totally different than regular candles.

And I tag (sorry if some of you have already gotten this, but not too many people read my blog yet):
Lexi
Laura
Debs
Jenna
Crystal Ball
Andie
Tegan

Mmm exciting. Today I'm going to see WTWTA (my second time) and eats crepes with my best friend. Hope you're all enjoying your weekends.

flap jacks.

You know, one of the things I love most is eating breakfast for dinner. Lots of people hate the idea, but breakfast is the best meal and it's even better when you break the rules and eat it when you're not supposed to. My mom, my sister, and I, have this tradition where whenever my dad is working late, we make breakfast for dinner. Usually it's just pancakes and eggs but lately we've also been taking the belgian waffle/ matzo brei route.

I'm sorry this is such a random post. But tonight, my dad was home late so we had buckwheat pancakes and I realized how utterly happy it made me. Tucked away in our breakfast nook, laughing with my mom and sister, eating off mismatched plates with the smell of maple syrup hanging in the air. Small things.
Good night.

happy halloween...

Sooo. Yesterday was Halloween! Mine was calm and quiet. I started out by carving my pumpkin. My cat was supervising me, mhm.
I made an happy/scary one with jagged teeth, the same kind I make every year :]

Then I raked leaves and sort of failed at using my tripod and camera timer. Muhaha.

After I did homework and other such nonsense that should not be allowed on Halloween, it was time to get my costume on! The thing with me and costumes is that every september or so, I think "Oh, I'm going to put together a really awesome costume this year!" but then I never do. A couple weeks ago actually I couldn't fall asleep so I was thinking of costumes and came up with the best idea everrrr. I considered getting up and writing it down but figured that it was such an amazing idea that there was no way I could forget it. Wrong.
Which is why I was a gypsy this year! I raided my mom's closet and found everything I needed. Halloween costume = zero dollah.
Basically I found the shirt, vest and skirt to make the base and then added a whole bunch of random colorful stuff on top. Success.

My sister Allison and I went trick or treating for Unicef. For those of you who don't know, that means we collected money for school supplies, food, water, etc. for children in third world countries instead of candy. I don't go trick or treating for candy because I always feel too old, but this was fun and more age appropriate I think. Only a few people who answered the door to us didn't know what we were doing, but most everyone else was happy to see us. This one woman actually got out of her house and hugged us because she said she hadn't seen Unicef on Halloween in years and was glad that some kids were doing the right thing these days. It was a bit awkward but at least we made some people happy.

Also, since there are approximately 15 kids in my neighborhood, most of the houses we went to gave candy to us so they wouldn't have so much left over. As evidenced in this picture.

Peanut M&Ms nom nom nom. Hope you all had wonderful halloweens too; if anyone did anything really exciting I want to hear about it.

P.S. Happy november!(??) Time is flying.
